About This Tour

Half Moon

Bridge Overview

The Governor Mario M. Cuomo Bridge is three-mile state-of-the-art, twin-span crossing on the Hudson River connecting Rockland and Westchester counties.

Located less than 20 miles north of New York City, the cable-stayed span crosses one of the widest parts of the Hudson River and is the longest bridge in New York State.

The bridge features the longest shared bicycle/pedestrian path in the nation. The path welcomes runners, bikers, walkers, and commuters alike. The 12-foot wide shared use path is located on the northern side of the westbound span and features six scenic overlooks, interpretive displays, and public art across its length.

Whether you're looking for a new running trail for your weekend exercise, or an alternate way to get to work, find your own path here.

What does it take to build a bridge across the widest section of the magnificent Hudson River?

On this tour you will hear stories of this engineering wonder's construction. How millions of pounds of all-American steel and enough concrete to build a sidewalk from New York City to Key West, Florida were used to construct the Governor Mario M. Cuomo Bridge and replace the decommissioned Tappan Zee Bridge.

Learn about the Hudson Valley's unique geology as you take in the views of the Palisades to the North.

Hear stories about the area's shipping and sailing heritage as you look toward Manhattan and the New York Harbor to the South.

On your walk, you will find pieces of art at various points along and near the path. New York artists created all of them.
